As part of our Over the Fence Project, Weddin Landcare are offering local farmers the opportunity to join them on a 2-day bus tour to progressive grazing and cropping properties in the Riverina region, around Wagga Wagga.
When: Monday 4th – Tuesday 5th August 2025
What:Â The bus tour will visit seven farms where we will hear from the owners and view several points of interest, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. The farms we will be visiting will include mixed farms (cropping and grazing), continuous cropping as well as several holistic grazing properties.Â
Participants will gain insight to the advanced systems these farmers are adopting to help them improve soil health, reduce inputs and achieve greater climate resilience, long-term profitability and a balanced life and how they manage the challenges of farming with well planned and executed systems.
Participants will also have the chance to chat to other farmers on the bus, during lunch and over drinks and dinner.
Cost: $165pp (heavily subsidised, includes cost of the bus, daytime meals and accommodation)
Bookings: Click the link below to book before 25th July 2025

About the farms we will visit:
Andrew Sinclair, Temora: Predominantly cropping with sheep and cattle traded when possible/beneficial. Adopts a zero-till ‘strip and disc’ cropping system.
Nick and Deanne Austin, Mundarlo: Holistic graziers (breeding and trade cattle) passionate about running a resilient and profitable farm that can withstand the variations in weather that is typical for Australia, but also allow them time for family and other off farm endeavors.Â
Dan Fox, Marrar: Dan and his family are implementing a number of regenerative practices into their cropping operation to improve soil health and sequester carbon. They adopt a strip n’ disc system (zero-till with full stubble retention), utilise different crop varieties, companion and cover crops, and apply organic-based liquid fertilisers. Dan was named as the Kondinin Group ‘Innovation Farmer of the Year’ in 2018 and was president of the Vic No-Till Farmers Association from 2021-2024.Â
Hugh and Libby Cruikshank, Coolamon: Mixed farmers, leaning more towards the livestock side but currently maximising production with the use of dual-purpose and multi-species grazing crops. Sound breeding objectives for first-cross lambs, with early joining and weaning. Zero-till cropping with diverse crop rotations. Utilising droughtlots to manage groundcover in drier times. Â
Michael and Anna Coughlan, Holbrook: Michael and Anna come from long-time farming families. They now operate several properties and produce beef at a very low cost of production. They adopt holistic grazing techniques and aim for 100% groundcover, 100% of the time which has led to improvements in the way nature cycles so that water, minerals, energy and organisms support one another to good health. Through strategic management of large ruminants in their landscape, they have been able to restore soil health in a brittle environment and have the peace of mind that they are producing a healthy product, with a sustainable income.
Daniel and Stirling Moll, Gerogery: Mixed farmers. More info to come.
Michael and Leanne Molloy, Yerong Creek: Mixed farmers. More info to come.
