As part of our Landcare Enabling Program Phase 3 Innovations and Partnerships Grant, Weddin Landcare will be working with Weddin Shire Council, Central West Local Land Services and RC Earthworks to pilot mulching techniques for the control of woody weeds such as Blackberry and Sweet Briar at the Kelly’s Creek Reserve on the Cowra Rd, near Bumbaldry.
RC Earthworks will initially mulch the site and we hope to hold a demonstration day in late November where members of the community can come and see the mulcher in action. Once mulched, we will then have better access to spray any regrowth of the blackberries and briars early next year to assist with control of these woody weeds.
