Weddin Landcare, in partnership with Grenfell Community Produce and St. Joseph’s Primary School, are hosting a FREE Composting workshop for primary school aged kids on:

Date: Tuesday 30th September

Time: 9am – 11am

Venue: St. Joseph’s Primary School, 24 Weddin St Grenfell.

Register: https://events.humanitix.com/composting-for-kids

Children will learn the basics of composting in this practical, hands-on workshop – what materials can be composted, how to manage compost, and how/when to use it on the garden.

The workshop will run for 2 hours and will be fully supervised by a staff member from St. Joseph’s so if you want to drop your kids off and do some shopping while your kids get their hands dirty, feel free. If you would like to stay and learn yourself, you are also welcome to do that! We would appreciate it if you plan to do this so that we can plan student to teacher ratios accordingly.

Need to know:

We have the composting queen, Dr. Ernie Harbott from Compost Culture who is down this way from Singleton so make the most of this opportunity!

Claire Diprose from Weddin Landcare will also be joining in on the fun. Both Ernie and Claire have a current Working With Children Check.

You or a pre-designated guardian will need to sign your child in and out of the workshop.

Water and toilets will be available at the school.

What to bring:

Please send your child with the following:

  • Morning tea

  • Drink bottle

  • Hat

  • Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty

  • Gloves (if you have them. The school can supply if need be)

  • Any composting materials you may have eg. kitchen food scraps, newspaper, straw, leaves, lawn clippings
